Knee Bracing
Our knees play a large role in our everyday mobility. It is not until you have an injury to your knee do you realise just how many of our everyday activities are dependent on good knee function. The knee joint not only bends and flexes but also rotates to stabilize, and assists with shock absorption during dynamic activities.
An injury involving the ligaments of the knee can result in an unstable knee, increasing the chance of further injury or for arthritis to develop.
Knee bracing is helpful for osteoarthritic knees to reduce loading forces on the joint to minimize wear, reduce pain and improve mobility.
Knee bracing for the unstable knee can improve proprioception, anatomical alignment and reintroduce controlling forces so a person can return to dynamic activities with confidence and less chance of reinjury.
