B D Mitchell Prosthetic & Orthotic Services delivers exceptional all encompassing orthopaedic care with 5 nationally certified clinicians, certified in Prosthetics, Orthotics and Pedorthics.  The clinicians are supported by 3 full-time technicians and 4 administrative personnel.  Together our team is committed to providing you with the best appliance, education and service of care possible.

Bryan Mitchell

Bryan Mitchell, CPO(c), C.Ped(c)

Bryan began his career in prosthetics and orthotics at George Brown College training as a technician.  He soon discovered that his talents extended far beyond fabricating devices into clinical assessment and patient care.  With experience working in Germany and New Zealand, Bryan earned his certification in 1988 and established B D Mitchell Prosthetic & Orthotic Services Ltd. soon thereafter.  He has continued to grow in his expertise and is now certified in all 3 clinical areas- prosthetics, pedorthics and orthotics. Bryan has earned numerous certificates from many top prosthetic and orthotic manufacturers including but not limited to Ottobock C-leg (microprocessor knee) Bioness L-300, Harmony (elevated vacuum socket fitting), Free walk (stance control KAFO), Myoelectrics, Ohio Willow Wood- Advanced Alpha Solutions, Cascade DAFO (Dynamic Ankle Foot Orthoses).

Adrienne

Adrienne Linder, B.Sc, CO(c)

Adrienne holds a B.Sc. in Kinesiology from the University of Waterloo. She completed a year of the Technician Program at George Brown College in Toronto and is a graduate of the Clinical Methods of Orthotics and Prosthetics program. Adrienne completed her orthotics residency in Surrey with an emphasis on paediatric orthotics, and continues her work with children who have cerebral palsy, spina bifida, clubfoot and brain injury. She enjoys working with clients to find a solution that works for them. Adrienne finds her job rewarding through forming long term relationships with clients and working with people with a wide range of abilities and ages. She has been with B D Mitchell Prosthetics & Orthotics since 2009. In her spare time Adrienne coaches youth basketball in Nanaimo.

Diane Calder

Diane Calder, B.Sc, C.Ped(c)

joined the clinic in 2005 and is a Certified Pedorthist.  Diane graduated with Honors from the University of Waterloo’s B.Sc. Kinesiology program in 1985.  She holds Pedorthic certification in both the U.S. (1989) and Canada (2006).  Diane has gained invaluable experience working in a gait analysis laboratory in Nashville, TN, analysing the biomechanics of different pathologies.  Diane is a competitive runner and squash player, and rows, canoes, kayaks and cycles recreationally.

Amanda MacKenzie, MSc., BAET, CO(c)

Amanda started her journey in health care though a Bachelor’s degree in Athletic and Exercise Therapy which ignited her passion for helping people to lead their most physically functional lives possible. This education led very well into her post-graduate diploma in Prosthetics and Orthotics, which she graduated with honors from BCIT, and her Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science.

Amanda is a compassionate clinician who applies a holistic approach to her care. She likes to build lasting relationships with her clients and work with them to achieve their goals. As people and goals vary, so does her approach to care.


Amanda keeps quite active in the community, so you may find her out at local trails, coffee shops, the movie theatre, or community events!

Vincent HenealutVincent Heneault, C.O.(c)

joined the BD Mitchell P & O team in August 2018, bringing with him a wealth of experience. Vincent graduated from College Montmorency, Quebec, in 1993, and has worked in both the public and private healthcare sectors for his first 20 years of employment. He was then employed at Ottobock, a top world-wide corporation specializing in orthotic and prosthetic componentry, as a clinical instructor covering all of Canada. He has taken additional training in Germany, Austria and the United States. Vincent specializes in Stance Control Orthosis (S.C.O.) and Stance and Swing Control Orthosis (S.S.C.O), and also has a strong interest in the technical aspect of his client’s orthosis. Vincent has decided to move West and settle in beautiful Nanaimo with his family.

Kris UebelhardtKris Uebelhardt, MSc, BSc, CO(c)

Kris joined B D Mitchell Prosthetics and Orthotics as a resident in 2020 before becoming certified in orthotics in 2022. Kris completed his clinical training in orthotics at BCIT and holds both a Master of Rehabilitation Science degree and Bachelor of Science degree from McMaster University and the University of Victoria, respectively. Kris has a strong interest in emerging technologies related to the field of prosthetics and orthotics with a specific focus on 3D printing. Before beginning his clinical training, Kris started two non-profit organizations that utilized 3D printing to provide prosthetic devices to low-income families. Kris enjoys spending time in nature with his wife and two daughters, walking his dogs, and boxing at a local gym.

Kamiar GhoseiriKamiar Ghoseiri, Orthotic Resident,
MSc. Kinesiology, MSc. &
PhD. Orthotics and Prosthetics

Kamiar is an Orthotic Resident with a couple of years of technical, clinical, and research experience in both disciplines of Orthotics and Prosthetics. He joined the BD Mitchell P & O team in December 2022 with a bright interest in innovative and evidence-based practice using new technologies to improve his patients’ quality of life and functional abilities. Additional knowledge and research in Kinesiology and Health Science provide him with better insight into new techniques and treatment options for his patients. Whenever he is not at work, he spends time with his family, studies, researches, or criticizes research papers as a peer-reviewer. He likes traveling to be familiar with different cultures, biking, and exploring the island with his wife and their fluffy dog.
